Perspective for Illustration: Inventing Backgrounds and Harmonizing the Figures to the Environment

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Have you ever struggled to get your characters to line up with the environment? Do you rely entirely on photos to help you draw a background? This workshop focuses on the perspective or deep space design of the illustrated moment and how to design rich, meaningful backdrops to the story you are telling. There will be a plethora of professional tips and shortcuts to getting around the intricate work involved in setting up a complex perspective grid, including scaling, detailing, and the illusion of depth both in black and white or sketch media and full color. In addition there will be a lecture on the perspective of the figure, how to keep it harmonized with the environment it is drawn into as well as how to keep it lens correct in the composition. Bring your pads and draw along, take notes and elevate your art skills.
